| During more than 25 years in Orthodontics, Richard has gained vast experience in all modes of treatment and different appliance systems. His expertise has led to lecturing, examining and research appointments in the UK and abroad, including North America, Scandinavia, the Middle East and Far East . |

He is Clinical Director of Orthodontics at the University of Warwick , an examiner for The Royal College of Surgeons of England , The General Dental Council Overseas Registration Examination, The National Examining Board for Dental Nurses and The University of Warwick. He is a Member of Editorial Board of Primary Dental Care of Faculty of General Dental Practitioners(UK), a Member of Honorary Editorial Board of Clinical, Cosmetic & Investigational Dentistry journal and was awarded a Winston Churchill Travel Fellowship in 1994 in recognition of his research work into the Management of patients with Cleft Lip and Palate.
He is a member of the Orthodontic Specialists Group of The British Orthodontic Society, The American Association of Orthodontists, The World Federation of Orthodontists, British Lingual Orthodontic Society, British Dental Association, Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (UK), British Society of General Dental Practitioners, a member of Council of the Midland Orthodontic Society and was it's President for 2004 to 2005 and chairman of Warwickshire Managed Clinical Orthodontic Network.
Richard is totally committed to the ongoing development of LSO and continuing improvements in the care given to all patients. He is ideally qualified to be involved in the provision of integrated education for the whole of the Orthodontic team. The highest standards of training ensure that his dedicated, experienced team will ensure the patient orthodontic treatment journey is exceptional. LSO has achieved Investors in People and BDA good practice recognition as a mark of its commitment to such training and development.
Invisalign have awarded him Platinum status in recognition of his considerable experience with the Invisalign system. He is pleased to be thought of as a thinking orthodontist, striving to move on to the next level in technological advances in treatment and is proud to be a recognised as a Damon system specialist, chairing regional study groups and lecturing on its exciting clinical advances. Liz graduated in Dentistry from The University of Birmingham in 1980. She then worked initially at The Birmingham Dental Hospital, followed by Burton on Trent District and General Hospitals in the Oral and Maxillofacial departments and later as a Registrar at the Birmingham Children's Hospital. During this time she studied for the Fellowship in Dental Surgery which she gained from The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1984.

A further period of training was undertaken to achieve her specialist orthodontic qualification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1986. Moving to the South West later in 1986 she took over an established Specialist Orthodontic Practice, the practice has grown considerably since the 80’s and now has 21 team members .

Locally she is a Member of South Devon's and Torbays Managed Clinical Networksand Local Orthodontic Committees and of the Peninsula Orthodontic Study Group and of the South West Regional Damon Study Group
She is also a member of the Orthodontic Specialists Group of British Orthodontic Society, an International Member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists. She has a strong ongoing commitment to continuing professional development worldwide to ensure provision of the most advanced Orthodontic treatment available.
In 2008 she developed the Orthodontic Therapy Course at Warwick University.
She is also involved in training dental nurses for radiographic and orthodontic nurses certificates and dental practitioners who have an interest in orthodontics. She lectures to study groups and PCTs and welcomes pupils from local schools to attend for work experience.
Liz is Course Director of the Orthodontic Therapist programme at Warwick University. At her practice Devon Square Orthodontics high quality care is provided by the extended orthodontic team. The team includes three qualified orthodontic therapists who fully understand the importance of attention to detail throughout each stage of treatment to ensure excellent results. Her orthodontic nurses run clinics to provide patient information and oral health education programmes.
As part of National Orthodontic Week -NOW they will be visiting local schools to help introduce local children to the team.
Liz has an interest in facial aesthetics and has converted her practice to self ligation mechanics because she believes this helps her to achieve outstanding results

Racheal began her career in dental nursing in 1998. She gained the certificate in sedation dental nursing in 2002
She joined the University of Warwick's Devon implant outreach centre as a dental nurse and also hosted the postgraduate training days.
She made the decision to set up her own dental nursing agency to also allow her to spend time as a special constable .
In 2007 she made the move to orthodontics joining the administrative team at Devon Square Orthodontics ( DSO). DSO is The University of Warwicks Devon Orthodontic outreach training centre.
She is now practice manager at DSO managing a team of 20.
She manages the administrative arm of OTT and works closely with LSO and the University of Warwick.

Carly began her career in Dental Nursing in 1997 in a busy general dental practice.
In 1998, she followed her desire to branch into the world of orthodontics and joined Liz Hopkins’ and her team at The Orthodontic Practice.
She embarked on a training program to enable her to gain formal dental nursing qualifications which would help develop her career. In 2001, Carly obtained the National Certificate in Dental Nursing and in 2003 the Certificate in Dental Radiography.
Carly took time to consolidate these skills before passing her exams in 2006 for the Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing.
In 2004 Carly took a career break to start a family, she now has two young children and fully understands what it's like to juggle a busy work schedule and home life.
On returning to the practice, she continued her role as Senior Orthodontic Nurse with an added title of Course Administrator for OTT.
Carly handles all the administration for Orthodontic Team Training programs and is currently overseeing the efficient running of the 8th ONC course and 3rd Impressions module course. She has first hand knowledge of the Orthodontic Nurses course and understands students’ needs. Carly has supported over 150 students since 2006, contributing to our impressive success rate.
