Welcome to the Orthodontic Team Training website. OTT was formed in 2005 and is a vibrant Orthodontic education and training group committed to providing high quality, innovative ongoing training for all of the Orthodontic Team. The founders of the company are Richard Cure and Liz Hopkins. Between them, they have vast Orthodontic educational experience, both as lecturers and assessors, nationally and internationally. They all run Specialist Orthodontic practices with great emphasis placed on development of the whole team and have been formally trained and qualified as educators by The University of Warwick. The world of Orthodontics is changing dramatically!
There are many exciting new clinical, educational and administrative developments.
We now have:
A new category of Dental Care Professional - the Orthodontic Therapist.
The requirement for nurses and other DCPs to register with the GDC. This formally recognises the public's expectations that all team members are well trained and have professional responsibilities.
The new Orthodontic contract which requires quality assurance and clinical governance procedures to be in place, with named personnel to manage them.Increasing public expectations of clinical and service provision.
Exciting clinical changes with new appliance systems and technology broadening Orthodontic horizons
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) obligations for all the Orthodontic team
Orthodontists and their teams must evolve with these changes or get left behind.
Are you concerned that you will find this unmanageable?
Think again! OTT is committed to providing continuing high quality education and support for all training needs. Our core tutors are all Orthodontic specialists, who have vast experience as lecturers, examiners and course developers both in the UK and overseas. They are joined by qualified DCP’s who have passed through the OTT education programmes themselves, thus providing valuable feedback for course development and student support on an ongoing basis.

There are accredited training courses for the whole team, from nurses through to specialists. The tutors’ personal reflective experience underpins the design of the courses.
The integration and interaction with other students in the workplace, together with the use of the very latest e-learning technology from the University of Warwick provides a unique learning experience which greatly enhances the whole learning experience for all levels of student. We feel strongly that our opinions must be backed by evidence-based practice and all OTT tutors are committed to their own personal continuing professional development. This approach enables us to ensure our teaching is founded upon evidence-based clinical practice.
Orthodontic Team Training is not only committed to the development and accreditation of all current members of the Orthodontic team, but also anyone not presently involved, but keen to move into orthodontics. We have developed an innovative approach to team education and development. Our unique facilities, including integrated surgery, clinical skills laboratory and lecture theatre, allows us to provide hands-on training in a practice environment, individually tailored to the needs of your team.
We believe it is the team that makes the smile; let us help your team produce that special smile for all your patients.
